7 Emirates - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federation consisting of seven Emirates located on the Arabian Gulf. The seven Emirates are: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah, Umm al-Qawain, Ajman and Fujairah. The country has borders with Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Oman. The city of Abu Dhabi is the capital. The land is largely hot, dry desert; in the east is a portion of the Jabal al Akhdar Mts. Oil, first exploited in the 1960s, is critical to the economy. |

The National Flag of the United Arab Emirates - The UAE flag consists of four colors - red, green, white, and black. Each color is shaped in a rectangular manner and looks similar to the letter E. The backbone of the 'E' is red, the top dash is green, the middle dash is white and the bottom dash is black. The United Arab Emirates national flag is sometimes also referred to as the Emirati flag. |

Climate -
UAE has a sub-tropical and arid climate, with sunny blue skies most of the year. It rains infrequently, falling mainly in winter. Temperatures range from a low of about 10.5°C (50°F) to a high of 48°C (118°F). The best time to visit is between October and May. The hottest time is from June to September with little rainfall. The clothing preferred is lightweights, with medium weights from November to March; warmer clothes for evening.
