Accommodation
Prices in UAE depend on the location of the property and the facilities of the compound (housing estate). You can find a house or apartment or shared accommodation depending on your income, budget and requirements.
Banking
The monetary unit in the UAE is the Dirham (Dhs/ AED) which is divided into 100 fils. The denominations of coins are available in 25 fils, 50 fils & 1 dhs and notes of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 are used widely.

There are many international and local banks present in UAE like HSBC, Citibank, ABN Amro, Barclays, Standard Chartered, ICICI, HDFC, Mashreq, First Gulf, ADCB, Emirates Bank, United Arab Bank and many more.

TT Transfers, Demand Drafts, Pay Orders can be obtained from these banks. To obtain the good conversion rate money can be transferred through authorized money exchange dealers.
Education
Due to the great variety of expatriates, there is a wide range of primary and secondary schools to choose from in UAE.
Hotels
UAE has every type of hotel. UAE's hotels rank among the best in the world in terms of luxury and facilities.
Health Services
UAE has a comprehensive, government-funded health service and a developing private health sector. Substantial government investment has enabled the UAE to make major progress in health care, and the country is now ranked 43rd out of 174 industrial and developing countries in the latest UN Human Development Report. The focus of the network of Government primary health care centres is maternal and child welfare, school health and health education. The public hospitals offer specialized services of telemedicine links with major hospitals abroad and state-of-the art surgery facilities.
Law and Order
The UAE Police are very efficient at ensuring safety and security. Speed cameras are positioned on major roads within the city and at certain traffic lights. Traffic offences incur both fines and penalty points.
Media
Telephone calls between land lines in a particular city in UAE are free. Calls from land line to mobile or mobile to mobile incur a small charge. Etisalat and Du are some providers of telephone and Internet services in the UAE. They offer a range of services including ADSL.
Newspapers
English News Papers: Gulf News, Khaleej Times, Gulf Today and 7 days.
Arabic News Papers: Al-Bayan, Al-Ittihad and Al-Khaleej.
The main Indian newspaper is The Times of India.

Tax Free
Expatriates to UAE enjoy the added bonus of a tax-free salary plus all goods in shops can be bought for tax-free prices.

Transportation

There are metered taxis which are easy to find on the street. Also available are UAE Transport Corporation (DTC) and Metro Taxis in beige cars, National Taxis in silver cars and Cars Taxi in white cars with a blue and red stripe.
